This
is a work that is very near my heart. It was created to memorialize a childhood
'playhouse' that was created by my daughter, then again years later for
her own daughter.
During the creation of the collage, I was in the midst of a time of great tribulation. As I worked I found much solace while reminiscing the many times we sat under the great hemlock tree which made a sheltering canopy for children at play. Later, the work was purchased by a friend who lost his beloved sister to a sorrowful battle against cancer. The Cardinal was her favorite bird. He said he couldn't pass the artwork without thinking of her. I like to think the peace I found while creating the collage, passed on to him bring some level of comfort in lonely hours. |
