part III The Family Connection |

When I was commissioned to do the work,
I had no idea that a new baby would make an arrival in our family. Life
unfolds as art comes into being... with many surprises. This is Melinda,
shortly before the sculpture is finished. The drawing on the previous page
was done by Travis. It was his interpretation of his baby sister in Mommy's
tummy.

 When
Melinda modeled in the early stages of the work (below) she had only recently
learned of her pregnancy. As the sculpture grew and changed.... as it 'became'...
so did our sweet baby Jesse. |

| Cassandra and Travis grew attached the the artwork as it embodied their anticipated little baby sister. Strangely enough, Jessica was born the day after I finished the sculpture. |
