About the
Art
by Angie Cook |
Once the underlay of watercolor
was in areas where needed, the other media was used to get the color, texture,
and detail I wanted in order to accent special features.
Colored pencils make a nice textured shading medium to get the soft variations of tone. I used it for creating depth in shadowed areas and for making the path more earthy. It also helped to make the wood look weathered. I used white colored pencil, then buffed the surface to make the roof look shiny and slick. This process also helped the windows to look like reflected sky on glass.
Markers were the choice medium for putting in fine lines like the banister posts and wood facer boards. The last layer was pen detailing.
